Innovative new league partners with personalised digital health and fitness coach WHOOP to aid competing riders in race recovery throughout the series

November 5 2021 – Paris, France: Ahead of this weekend’s opening round, the UCI Track Champions League today announces a partnership with WHOOP, the latest and most advanced health and fitness wearable on the market.

WHOOP will equip competing riders with WHOOP devices, a powerful digital health and fitness wearable, giving them personalised performance insights throughout the five rounds of the series. Off track, the riders’ WHOOP Strain, Sleep and Recovery metrics will be available to them providing personalised insights and analytics.

After a gruelling 2021 season of racing, including Tokyo 2020, the European Championships, Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Championships and now the UCI Track Champions League, riders' ability to recover effectively is of the highest importance. The habits, exercise, and physiological metrics captured by their WHOOP devices inform the athlete’s training to enable them to extract their best possible performance on race day, and optimise their recovery before the next event.

Briain Curtin, WHOOP’s International Director of Marketing said of the partnership: “WHOOP is thrilled to be a partner for the inaugural UCI Track Champions League. Our mission at WHOOP is to unlock human performance through our core metrics of Sleep, Strain, Recovery. Cycling will be a key focus for us as we grow internationally, and we look forward to expanding our partnership with Discovery Sports Events and Eurosport.”

François Ribeiro, Head of Discovery Sports Events said: “This partnership between the league and WHOOP can only be described as a perfect fit. WHOOP’s innovative wearables are pushing the boundaries of rider performance and recovery, so naturally we are pleased to partner with them for this cutting edge, data driven, new racing series. Alongside AWS and BKOOL, WHOOP is the third high tech brand joining UCI Track Champions League to showcase its know-how and support enhancing fan experience.”
