THE EVENTS DIVISION OF WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY SPORTS PARTNERS WITH NEXTHASH TO LAUNCH THE FIRST NFT COLLECTIONS FOR THE SPORTS IT PROMOTES

4 May 2023

  • The events division of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports to launch, in partnership with NextHash, its first NFT collections in 2023 inspired by iconic sports disciplines it promotes
  • After a first dive into the metaverse, this second Web3 partnership marks another step on Warner Bros. Discovery Sports’ strategy and commitment to innovation with the aim of developing more immersive fan experiences

The events division of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports (WBD Sports) is launching its first ever non-fungible token (NFT) collections for the sports it promotes to offer fans the chance to build their own set of unique digital assets and celebrate the sports they love.

These new digital assets aim to increase the notoriety of WBD Sports’ events among different audiences and digital communities on top of offering new products to its own fans. With a first taste of the metaverse experience developed in 2022, WBD Sports continues to move forward on its roadmap to implement Web3 technology on its owned and promoted series.

As part of a five-year partnership with NextHash, the state-of-the-art blockchain platform and financial services provider, WBD Sports will expand its digital presence while taking advantage of a growing global crypto landscape.

The events division of WBD Sports will offer a utility token portfolio with unique digital collectables related to its iconic sport disciplines, some of them developed by international artists.

Throughout the year, NFT collections will be dropped around the several events organised and promoted by WBD Sports. Each NFT Collection will be available through traditional NFT marketplaces (such as Opensea).

More information will be released shortly including drop dates and concepts.
